Welcome Reid Louis Andersen!

Jeff and I welcomed our precious little boy to the world at Baylor University Medical Center on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at 4:59am weighing in at 7 lbs 6 oz and stretching 20 1/4" long.

Just a few minutes old

Now what?

1st car ride...going home!

Our world is about to change forever....

I woke up yesterday morning around 3:30 with contractions that would end up lasting the entire day.  I was convinced they were only Braxton Hicks, so I got up, showered, worked in the office, met my boss out for lunch at Chick-fil-A, & visited Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas before making my way home for the day.  Jeff got home from work, and we had dinner as usual.  We both tried to go to bed around 10:00pm, but unfortunately my contractions weren’t allowing me to get comfortable in bed.  I migrated to the rocker in the nursery and then to the couch in the den.  Up until now, standing up was the only way I could get relief from the contractions.  My last idea was to sit on the hard floor in the den, and that very well may be one of the BEST ideas I’ve ever had in my 34 years.  Shortly after making this ever important decision to sit on the floor (as opposed to any of our furniture), my water officially broke at 12:20am (and I don't mean dribbled...it officially BROKE).  We were on the road to Baylor by 12:30am and checked in by 1:00am.  I was dilated to a 5 upon check in, so they proceeded to insert the IV and order the beloved epidural.  After all that was complete, I was checked again, and I had progressed to a 7!  We were moving right along.  The time after that was somewhat of a blur, but Jeff tells me I started pushing at 4:30am, and Reid graced us with his amazing presence at 4:59am (although we still didn’t have a name for the little guy at this point).  Let the fun begin!

Catching up...with exactly one month to go!

I’m just a tiny bit delayed in posting nursery photos and updated belly shots partly because there was always just “one more thing” I wanted to finish in the nursery before posting the pictures.  I even thought about waiting until Baby A officially has a name (so we’d have the wall décor up), but then we may never get pre-baby pictures posted.  Yes, we’re still struggling with a name, but progress has been made!  We’ve narrowed the list down to about eight names.  Contrary to my better judgment, this may end up being a game day decision.

My belly was pulsating!  :)

Outward Expansion

At 23 weeks, the scenery in our pictures may not be as nice, but the belly is definitely bigger.  I'm not sure if the picture tells the whole story, but my husband certainly does.  On the morning of my 23rd week (yesterday), he said "Now that's a REAL pregnant belly!"  He's so observant, I know.  We had a fabulous day yesterday.  It was full of cleaning, organizing, yoga (for two out of three of us), errands, eating, and more organizing.  We are in full "get ready for Baby A" mode, and nothing brings me more peace & happiness than getting everything in order.  I'm so grateful to have a husband who so actively participates in those types of nesting behaviors right alongside me.  It's too early to tell right now, but I think I'll have him write a book for men when this is all over - "How to Keep Your Pregnant Wife Happy."  Although you may want to ask me if he's still qualified to write that book in about four months from now.  ;)

23 weeks & counting

Hudson didn't want to be left out.

Since I vetoed the Vintage Playboy nursery idea, Jeff submitted an alternate suggestion:  Scary Hot Dog Man

CREEPY!

By next Sunday night, we should have the first nursery pictures to post!
