First Church Easter Egg Hunt

Every year on Palm Sunday, First Church hosts an Easter Egg Hunt & Picnic at the fabulous playground/park at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (right down the street from church).

Unfortunately, this year it was too cold to have an Easter egg hunt outside, so instead they decided to have it inside in the brand new Atrium space of our church.

This was our first year to attend, and I must say, we enjoyed the controlled (?) chaos!

Can you tell it was everyone's nap time?

Look what the boy found in one of his Easter eggs...a jelly bean!
Someone wasn't a big fan of this Easter bunny!

Happy Easter!!!

Christmas in March

Every year, we make it a point to get together with Kiki and her family to celebrate Christmas together. As you may imagine, it's tough to mesh her family's schedule (there are 6 of them total and they are spread across the state of Texas) and our family's schedule especially now that we have the sweet boy in tow.

Sadly, we've let our busy lives get the best of us over the last couple of years, so we hadn't seen each other in quite some time.

So this year in March, we celebrated Christmas 2011, Reid's 1st birthday, and Christmas 2012 all on the same day.  I hate that we waited so long, but it was a blast nonetheless!

I'm sad to say that I didn't get a picture of sweet (all.grown.up Missy).  She lives in Dallas and was very sweet to offer to babysit anytime.

Talk about the circle of life...the kids I babysat and nannied for are ALL old enough to babysit my kid(s).  To say "time flies" is the understatement of the year!

Frontiers of Flight Museum

Mommy almost forgot to post about our fun trip to the Frontiers of Flight Museum a few weekends ago.

It was a cold, rainy day, and we couldn't think of a better way to spend it than with our little guy and a bunch of airplanes!  Not surprisingly, he loved it!

In the cockpit of the kids' plane with the big kids.  They weren't too fond of having a "baby" up there with them, but it didn't phase Reid a bit.

The slide and the bounce house battled it out for Reid's favorite part of the museum.
He thought about it...but he changed his mind at the last minute.  Fine with me because that slide was super fast!  I think one of those big kids greased it up while no one was looking.  :)

He actually had a few minutes to himself in the bounce house.  That was fun!  He liked falling down as much as he liked bouncing.
Back to the slide for one last go at it.
Going to see the real planes with dad.
This was our distraction technique as we began our departure from the museum.

The Purple Cow

Last weekend after Rockin' Railroad at Kidville, Reid got a special little treat.  We walked down the breezeway to The Purple Cow for a yummy brunch and for his first visit with the Easter bunny this season.

I wrote about it on a post here at Dallas Moms Blog as well.

Reid!

For months now, all of Reid's little classmates have been saying his name.  They all say "Reid!" when daddy drops him off in the morning, and according to his teachers, they say it throughout the day as well.

Just one little problem, Reid has refused to say his own name.  Guess he was just holding out some of his cuteness for a later date.

Yesterday when mommy picked him up from school, his teacher said that he'd been saying his name all day long.  He graced us with his new found skill at home too.  Can you tell his parents get excited every time he says it?

Dress Up

The boy loves to play dress up, and in particular {to daddy's dismay} he loves mommy's turquoise scarf. He also loves all shoes - his shoes, daddy's shoes, & even mommy's shoes. It's one of his favorite words to say too - shoes!

As you can see from our dress up session below, daddy threw in an age appropriate ball cap {in case you can't read it...it says "Drink Naked/Naked Mountain Winery"}.  Just a little boost of masculinity for the boy.  :)

Reality Sets In

The twin-littles' nursery furniture arrived last week.

Many thanks goes out to their grandmas & grandpas for hooking the boys up with their first set of bedroom furniture!

We are so grateful!

Before daddy got a hold of them...

And after daddy got a hold of them.

If the sight of TWO cribs side by side isn't a reality check, then I don't know what is (well, maybe I can think of one or two things...coming in June ;).

Daddy assembled all four pieces of furniture in one weekend!
