Reid's 1st Airplane Ride & 1st Trip To The Sparkling City By The Sea

On Monday morning, August 15th, Jeff drove Reid and me to DFW Airport for Reid's 1st airplane ride and 1st trip to Corpus.  We still had many family members in Corpus who hadn't met Reid yet, so we headed south to introduce him to his seaside fan club.  As an extra special treat, we were able to celebrate Reid's cousin's 4th birthday (8/15) and Reid's granddad's birthday (8/18).  Reid is already proving to have impeccable timing!

Thankfully both flights went smoothly.  I couldn't have asked for a better experience!  Some of the things I was grateful for along the way:  dads who are patient and oh-so-helpful getting us checked in and in line at security, TSA agents who are so willing to lend a helping hand through security, American Airlines gate crew who let us board early (evidently, pre-boarding with children is no longer an official policy of the airlines), the nice stranger who loaded Reid's stroller and carrier onto the luggage truck at the gate, friendly passengers who didn't freak out when they realized there was a baby on board, my right breast (I credit it for being the calming force on both flights!), hooter hiders (what did women do before these handy little things...a blanket just wouldn't have cut it), and family members eagerly awaiting our arrival as we walked off the plane!  It was truly a wonderful experience.  I'm just glad the flight is only an hour each way.

Mimi and her grandsons

We had to try really hard to get Gabriel to smile in the previous picture.  This is REALLY what he'd rather be doing - making funny faces!  He's preparing to entertain his new little brother (arriving November 2011!).

Michelle, it's pretty evident to me why you are so loved !!What a big sacrifice you made to come and visit us old folks, and introduce us the newest member of our family, baby Reid, who by the way he is going to have your personality, always smiling. You have your priorities in very good order, and one of them is the importance of family !! I love you, Nana Hope
