Farewell You Silly Swaddle

Last night marked our first night with no swaddling.  Our little Houdini has been breaking out of his swaddle more and more lately, and I happen to think this is one of the reasons he wakes prematurely at night.  He's also slowly learning to self soothe with his fingers and occasionally even with his thumb, so we figured it was time to let the boy loose.

I've read great reviews on the Halo Sleep Sack.  The sleep sack allows baby to have his hands free and be covered without having to use a traditional blanket.  I was prepared for a nightmare of a night on our first go without the swaddle; however, Reid did really well.  It was a little rough at first (he woke after only 45 minutes of sleep), but I was able to rock him back to sleep in no time.  He woke up one more time about an hour later (and still too early for his midnight snack), so Aunt Jamye patted him and put the paci back in, and voila!  Back to sleep he went!  After his 1:00am-ish feeding, the rest of the night went very smoothly.  I was so excited about our new sleeping arrangement that I went out and bought two more sleep sacks today!

Our baby boy is growing up
As Mary Poppins would say, "Practically perfect in every way."
"Hooray for me!  No more swaddle!"

We had a very hard time weaning the swaddle, but the halo sacks saved the day (or night) for us too! He is getting so big!!
